About the author and the blog
My name is Barefoot Brad. I'm 28 years old and I live in the beautiful beachside suburb of Maroubra in Sydney, Australia.
With this blog I hope to journey with you as we explore together the intricacies of life in a broken world. My faith is the engine room of my life, and that will be reflected in my blog. But I also hope to write about many other things. Some of the topics you will find canvassed here are:
- the intersection of sexuality and faith in Jesus. I'm a gay Christian.
- life as a barefoot wanderer. I don't wear footwear.
- living as a young(ish) person with cancer. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2011.
- God's beautiful creation. I'm an amphibian who loves the outdoors, particularly the ocean.
- the institutions of the church. I grew up in them and I am now compelled to talk about them.
As my uncertain days in this world unfold, I hope to share with you a few glimpses into this life I live. But I also want you to engage with me. Comment on the posts. Share your own experiences of the topic at hand. Challenge me, as I hope to challenge you. Add me on Facebook. Come to Maroubra and have a chat with me over a beer or a coffee or a cone by the beach. Let me fix us some nuts and raw vegetables, and let's share our stories. Let's live this life together.
Peace and love.
